Ironman

Jackson, our little chunk. One strong kid. His calves are so muscular already and his thighs are, well, chunk...that is where the nickname comes from.
He has decided he really wants to move around. Rolling just isn't going to cut it. So he pushes himself up to a push-up. A baby plank as I have been calling it.
He lays on his belly, and then lifts himself up to his toes and hands, the rest of his body in the air, no other body part touching the ground.
He then gets frustrated that there is no real forward movement with that positon, so lays back on his belly and 'swims', kicking his legs, circling his arms.
And while he is just mastering sitting up on his own, when we hold his hands, he stands right up and wants to let go.

Charlie AKA George

"Charlie, you are going to have another little boy named Charlie in your swim class, so they may have to call you Charlie K"

"mommy, how about they call me George?"

"You don't want to be called Charlie, you want your teacher to call your George?"

"Yeah!"

George it is.

feeling pretty fortunate

We are ramping up the house hunt. It feels weird to get excited about owning another home when so many are about to lose theirs. In fact, we looked at an area this fall and could not afford any home...we looked again in this same area last week and were surprised at how many homes have fallen into our price range.
We are fascinated with www.trulia.com - on this site, most homes up for sale have the most recent sale price and then the current asking price. We found a home that sold in 2005 for $585,000 and the current asking price is $375,000. Of course the market was completely overinflated in this area to begin with, but it still blows our minds.

Baby Take Your Bow
by Chris Rice

We’re gonna miss your song and dance, the way you made us laugh.
And we’re so glad we had the pleasure for awhile.
But on the other side you’ll find a better audience, just be yourself and you can’t help but make the angels smile.
Baby all the world’s a stage, playwright pans your final page and then he brings your curtain down, so blow us your kisses and drench our eyes, we’ll rise to our feet to wave goodbye, for now, so baby take your bow.
The world is lovelier because you had your moment here, and we could see a friend of heaven in your face.
And in your song we heard the longing for a distant shore and now your time has come to go and so be on your way.
Baby all the world’s a stage, playwright pans your final page and then he brings your curtain down.
So blow us your kisses and drench our eyes, we’ll rise to our feet to wave goodbye, for now, so baby take your bow.
The show is over now, it’s time to lay your burdens down, so baby take your bow.

Prayers for Kristi

In previous posts, I have mentioned my friend Kristi. When I lived in NC, she was my MOPS leader and is a dear friend. Here is a prayer request from her father from her CarePages website.

"Our prayer request is for the liver to start to function properly and to regenerate damaged areas. We have a very short time to see that improvement or the medical folks will have no choice but to determine that improvement will not occur and that further medical solutions will not be available. The ability to treat is now limited by very low platelet counts. Please pray for those platelet counts to increase so that full treatments of chemo may be given to her to attack the cancer in her body. Also pray for Kristi to feel better. She is very sick with a lot of complications that cause her to feel pretty lousy or to simply sleep a lot. We all want her to be able to be awake without severe pain so she can spend time with her family."

Thank you for your prayers for this family during this difficult time.

Flashback Friday

Avery's 2nd birthday. 3 years ago. We had just moved into our new home in NC, just welcomed home baby Charlie. Lea and Trevor came to visit and help us celebrate.

Avery's 3rd birthday. A small celebration with her friends Emma and Sophie.

Avery turns 4. With a neighborhood pajama pancake breakfast.

This weekend Avery will be 5. Seems like we're celebrating all weekend. 5 is pretty big. Especially for Stephen and I.
